spring is in the air ....

Watching the bluetits flitting about the garden is a sure sign of Spring .....  the little bird on this card was die-cut from a 12x12 sheet of Pion 'Linnaeus Botanical Journal - Leucanthemum Vulgare, which has four 6" x 6" images on it.  The background paper was another of the four images.  I diecut the leaves and green butterflies.

Paper, flowers, ribbon and lace are all from The Ribbon Girl online store.

A visit to Venice ......

Perfect crafting day as it's alternating between heavy rain, sleet, snow and bright sunshine!

I have made this card for someone going to Venice in the next few days!  I used Maja Vintage Summer Basics 6x6 Pad with a digital image of Venice from years gone by.  Venice is lovely place to visit at any time of year and I hope to go later in the summer

The left side of the card was shaped with a die and I added some Laila 17mm white vintage style lace, 6mm white flatback pearl trim, ivory and pale pink large rosebuds, ivory hip rosebuds, white lily and aqua 30mm wild roses.  I also included a bronze sea-horse peeping out from the flowers.

The inside of the card was decorated with more Maja papers from the same pad and the sentiment is computer generated

I will enter this card into the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge ; 'show us your metal' which in my case is the little bronze sea horse

thanks for visiting and see you soon

Birthday card for Hannah ...

My friend Eva, who is now housebound, asked me to make this birthday card for her best friend who has been extremely kind so I tried to make it just a little bit different to a standard square card.

I used 'Field Lilies' 12x12 paper pad by Galeria Papieru and White and Pink lily flowers, peach cherry blossom, white spray, rose leaves, cream hip rosebuds, white cosmos daisy, 16mm pale peach satin ribbon, peach small beaded berries all from  www.ribbongirl.co.uk

it took me a while to figure out the folds and where to glue the ribbons so everything was neat,  but I was very pleased with the end result and had great fun.  This new paper is really nice to work with and the designs and colours are excellent

Birthday card with delicate heart ...

This card is for my daughter-in-law's Nana.  I used Pion 'Fields of Purple' from the new Scent of Lavender collection.  The stripe on the tag (tied with purple button twine)  is the reverse of the 12x12 sheet.

I diecut the delicate heart (I've had this die for a couple of years and it's called a La rue Heart by Memory Box) then added ivory carnation, pink and lilac 20mm and lilac 10mm open rose, white tulip, white cosmos daisy and some green paper leaves punched with a Martha Stewart branch punch.
I embellished the card with 'Margaret' white guipure lace, 6mm white flat back pearl trim and Mauve Mist vintage style seam binding

Get well soon ...............

This is my project for the Ribbon Girl April 'use any image' challenge - you can use any type of image, photograph, it can be stamped, cut from a sheet of paper etc. and it doesn't have to be a card, it can be anything, a bag, a tag, a box, 3-d project, anything at all - just so long as there is an image on it.  I made a folded decorated corner 'get well soon card' using Maja 'Vintage Spring Basics' 6x6 papers  All edges were distressed with gathered twigs ink and I used 'Lyra' white guipure lace to the top and bottom of the card adhered with 6mm double sided sticky tape.  I added some 4mm white flat back pearl trim on over the lace at the top of the card, adhered with 3mm double sided sticky tape  The sentiment was computer generated

I added 20mm vintage lilac open rose, lilac small beaded berries, lilac/white two tone hip rosebud, lilac/white aster, rose leaves and some mauve mist vintage style seam binding

The image was cut from one of the 6x6 sheets in the Spring Basics stack, which has 9 of these images on so they are very useful indeed and very economical!

The paper pack includes some tags to cut out so I made a tea-bag type tag and added a vintage lilac 20mm open rose and some mauve mist vintage style seam binding - the colours match perfectly

Flowers, lace, Maja papers, adhesive, pearl trim are all from The Ribbon Girl

I hope you will have time to pop over to the blog - the design team have made some wonderful projects to inspire you!! and of course, there are great prizes to be won!!

Gift Box with scent of lavender ....

I paintd the edges of a plain heart shaped gift box with white acrylic paint, then covered with some of the new papers from the Pion 'Scent of Lavender' papers.  I used 'Fields of Purple' and also the stripes on the reverse on the side of the box, and the image on top was from the 'Images from the Past' sheet

This photo shows the 15mm lilac satin edge sheer ribbon on the bottom of the box, with some purple loopy trim adhered on top (I used 6mm and 3mm double sided sticky tape)  At the top of the box I added some of the new 'Jennifer' pale lilac lace then topped that with 4mm white flat back pearl trim

My flower arrangement includes a lilac ballerina blossom, lilac/white two tone cherry blossom, purple beaded berries, purple/white two tone hip rosebuds, rose leaves, vintage violet 15mm paper roses and white heather springs.

The bow behind the flowers is 15mm satin edge sheer ribbon and purple button twine

A rectangle card for a change using layers of gorgeous Lemoncraft 'House of Roses' 6x6 paper pad.

I added Laila white vintage style cotton lace, 6mm white flatback pearl trim, khaki green satin ribbon.  I used some white spray and ivory large rosebuds for my flower arrangement, tucking some white French veil behind then adding a wooden clock button tied with natural hemp twine.

The sentiment was computer generated.  I distressed the paper edges and inked with withered twigs distress ink.
